Actually the first one opened in Shinjuku (I think) a couple months ago. This one just opened in Kawasaki station; there's a line winding its way out the station, down the sidewalk to the street every day, and another about half as long every evening. Want to sell lots of something in Japan? 1. Open one store. People here like a fad/trend and will line up to buy it...no matter what it is. 2. "Run out" occasionally. Nothing says 'this thing is difficult to get and worth your time trying to get it' more than a shortfall of supply; they still do that with the megamacs (4 pattie McDonald hamburgers) here to lesser effect, but when they first came out they were only available about three days a month. You could always tell the days by the ridiculous lines stretching from McDonalds into the street. 3. Associate it with The United States or Europe Ever wonder why all these American actors that would never do an ad in the west, do them here in Japan? (Yes, money..but also) The company will recoup the money spent on said actor from sales faster than you can say 'I am a soulless, money-grubbing hack..
